Featured Artist for May Concert: Khoi Dinh

This Sunday, May 20, the La Mirada Theatre proudly presents the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) orchestra. The concert will feature three student soloists.

Khoi Dinh is currently a senior at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where he is principal flutist of the LACHSA Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alan Mautner. He is also a member of the woodwind quintet coached by Helen Goode-Castro and Francisco Castillo. Outside of LACHSA, Khoi studies at the Colburn School for Performing Arts under James Walker, former principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and professor at the Colburn Conservatory of Music and University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. He has played in the Colburn Youth Orchestra (CYO), Wind Ensemble, and Concert Band. Khoi has additionally been a member of the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, California All-State Wind Symphony, Idyllwild Wind Symphony, Idyllwild Symphonic Band, and the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America 2 (NYO2) where he performed at Carnegie Hall under Giancarlo Guerrero.

Khoi is a 2018 National Young Arts Foundation Honorable Mention finalist on NPR’s From the Top, and has won first place in the Rotary Club Music Competition in both his sophomore and junior years. He was invited by Ginny Mancini and the Wallis Annenberg Center to be a guest performer for Henry Mancini’s memorial. This summer, Khoi will be attending the Orford Music Academy to study with Denis Bluteau, and Alexa Still, and will be a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), through which he will play several concerts in New York, Taiwan, China, and Korea under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas.
