Message From La Mirada Symphony Association President David Derks
We are coming back to the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts this February! We’ve been looking forward to the day we’d be back on stage to welcome all guests to reopen our doors to a new season.
The La Mirada Symphony Orchestra strives to continue maintaining its policy of offering free quality classical concerts to the residents of Southern California. Your commitment is key to enriching the Symphony with the opportunity to continue assisting us with providing free classical concerts to the local population and opening up possibilities.
Did you know the actual cost of each concert is seventeen thousand dollars ($17,000)?
We encourage everyone to continue or become a member by giving any amount to our program so that we can continue to build the jewel of La Mirada. In an age where so many people are surrounded by hardships, the La Mirada Symphony offers an opportunity for everyone to escape their challenges for a few hours and enjoy the beauty of music.

The 2022 Season
The February 20 and May 22 classical concerts will be part of the organization’s homecoming season and are free to the public. Tickets for both free concerts will be available at approximately eight weeks before the concerts. The organization has also started a unique partnership with the La Mirada Theatre that will include two concerts celebrating the music of Frank Sinatra and John Denver.
February 20, 2022: West Coast Premiere of ‘Our Rights and Nothing Less’ Featuring Maria Newman (free concert)
2020 marked the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment. To honor the historic milestone, the La Mirada Symphony will perform the West Coast premiere of Maria Newman’s “Our Rights, and Nothing Less,” written in honor of Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday. The program will feature “Lyric for Strings” by George Walker, who was the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
April 8, 2022: Symphonic Sinatra with Matt Dusk
Take a journey with award-winning, multi-platinum selling crooner Matt Dusk as he whisks you away to Las Vegas in 1966 where he’ll pay homage to his hero Frank Sinatra. With new arrangements by Grammy Award-winning arrangers Pat Williams and Sammy Nestico, Dusk will transport you back in time to one of music’s most elegant eras. A time when “Come Fly With Me,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” and “One For My Baby” dominated the charts.
May 22, 2022: Shostakovich, Bernstein, and Student Soloists (free concert)
Student soloists will dazzle the audience when they perform the first movements of both a Bach Piano Concerto #1 in D Minor, and Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor. The La Mirada Symphony will fill the venue with the powerful music of Leonard Bernstein and Dmitri Shostakovich.
May 27, 2022: The Symphony Tribute to the Music of John Denver
Jim Curry will perform with the La Mirada Symphony using the original orchestrations written for John Denver by Grammy award-winning composer Lee Holdridge, who will also join us as the guest conductor for this unforgettable concert!
