Emmy and Annie Nominated Composer Charles Fernandez Will Be Guest Composer November 19
Charles Fernandez, an Emmy and Annie nominated composer, will be the guest composer at the La Mirada Symphony’s November 19 concert.
He has composed music for television series such as Disney’s Little Mermaid, Disney’s Aladdin, Universal’s Casper Cartoon Series (For which he received two Emmy and one Annie Nomination), Disney’s Doug, Disney’s 101 Dalmations, Dreamworks’ Toonsylvania and Disney’s Bonkers.
His resume also includes compositions for films, such as Doug’s 1st Movie/Disney, Aladdin III/Disney, The Pebble and the Penguin/MGM, All Dog’s Go To Heaven II/MGM, Aladdin and the King of Thieves/Disney, All Dogs Christmas Carol/MGM, Babes in Toyland/MGM, Tom Sawyer/MGM, Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein/Universal, The New Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbalina/Artisan, Jingle Bells/Artisan and The Tangerine Bear/Artisan.
His recent concert premieres include Frolic: Concertino for Tuba and Concert Band, Persepolis Bazaar for Concert Band, Holiday Horn Concerto for Horn and Band/Orchestra, For the Matadors for the 50th anniversary of CSUN, Bachus Illatus for the Los Angeles Bach Festival, Americana Trio for Flute, Clarinet and Bassoon, Cruise and Star for Saxophone Sextet and Harp, and the latest commission for Dr. Larry Stoffel and CSUN, Bachus Illatus for Band and Organ for the Los Angeles Bach Festival.
He’s also served as orchestrator and conductor on countless trailers and film projects, the most recent of which was the trailer for recent James Bond film, Spectre.
In addition to his duties with composing, he’s also an instructor at Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, UCLA Extension and Thinkspace, based in the U.K.
