LMS Welcomes New Board Members
The La Mirada Symphony Board voted in three new members at the August 26, 2013 meeting. They bring diverse backgrounds and talents to the makeup of the board. Meet our newest board members:
Chris Kawate graduated from La Mirada High School and went on to receive his college degree from UC Berkeley. He and his wife, Jean, have lived in Montebello for several years. Chris has worked in the area of grants and public funding for many years. He comes on as the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
Laura Scott (center first row), has played the flute in the La Mirada Symphony for over twenty years. She recently retired from her career at AT & T. She will be working closely with Orchestra Manager Joan Cain. Her knowledge of music will be a valuable asset to the LMS Board.
Joseph Yakovetic is an acclaimed artist, often working for the Disney Corporation. His paintings inspired by the films Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz are known throughout the world. He also has an extensive background in theatre and set design. His performance art painting during last season’s Benefit Gala featuring Susan Egan, generated a lively auction and proceeds for the symphony. He will be a valuable Creative Consultant on the LMS board. Visit his website at Art of Yakovetic.
Thank you to these generous people willing to give their time and talent to the La Mirada Symphony!
