Nicole Lam Will Be Featured Student at May 19 Concert
Pianist Nicole Lam is a sophomore at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA). She currently studies under the tutelage of Ms. Lilit Babayan.
Nicole has won innumerable competitions such as the Golden Note Youth Music Festival (Grand Prize), Two Cranes International Music Festival (1st Prize), Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) Scholarship Competition (Grand Prize), Lansum International Competition (1st Prize), etc. She has been invited to perform as a piano soloist in world known concert halls like Bucharest University (Romania), Brahms Hall (Vienna), Weill Recital Hall Carnegie Hall (New York), Zipper Concert Hall, Luckman Fine Arts Complex, Westerbeck Recital Hall, Munson Chapel and others. She has also performed concertos with Haydn Symphony Orchestra Vienna and Bucharesti Symphonie Romania.
Nicole has played in masterclasses for Dr. Adrian Cox, Prof. Vlad Dimulescu, Prof. Thomas Kreuzberger, Dr. Barbara Moser, Prof. Dmitry Rachmanov, and Prof. Meng-‐Chieh Liu.
As a chamber musician, she was commissioned to premiere and record the “Glass Menagerie” (for Violin, Cello, Piano) by the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Theatre Department. She was also commissioned for the world premiere for Bruce Stark’s “Three Dances” (for Flute, Violin, and Piano) at the MTAC Annual Convention.
Nicole is also a classical vocalist who has sung in renowned concert venues such as Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Disney Recording Studios, and historic sites of Italy and Vienna. She has also won first place at multiple competitions such as MTAC VOCE Competition and the Southern California Junior Bach Festival (SCJBF).
Nicole is an honorary bilingual host at USTV, hosting many celebratory events broadcasted across the nation. She won first prize at the 2nd Annual American National Youth Host Competition and was subsequently invited to represent the United States in the international finals in Beijing.
As someone who finds joy in helping others, Nicole started her own non-‐profit organization called Love Through Music that shares music with meaning to the local community in support of childhood education in Nepal. Nicole strives to spread the essence of music to other people’s hearts.
