Shirley Jones in La Mirada August 20th
Singer-actress Shirley Jones, composer Paul Williams and Roy Disney will all be honored by the La Mirada Symphony Association at its first annual Golden Clef Awards Gala. The celebration shines a spotlight on individuals and organizations who’ve made a significant and lasting impact on concert music and the musical arts.
Jones starred in family-friendly musical films The Music Man and Oklahoma!, won an Oscar for her more risqué role in Elmer Gantry and played the loving matriarch in hit ’70s series The Partridge Family. Williams penned lyrics for everyone from David Bowie to the Carpenters to Barbra Streisand to Kermit the Frog, earning an Oscar and a Grammy along the way. The Golden Clef Awards also honors Roy Disney with a special guest appearance by animator Dave Bossert and a screening of Walt Disney and Salvador Dali’s animated short Destino. Set inside the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, the evening starts with a silent auction, followed by a celebration of the honorees, including a musical tribute by Broadway performers.
