We’re Going Over the Rainbow Feb. 22
by Dana Taylor, Publicity Chairman
A couple of years ago when I was serving as President of the La Mirada Symphony Association, I received an email from a local artist offering to help with an upcoming concert. I was skeptical of this out-of-the-blue offer, having been burned in the past by eager, but not so talented, individuals. It took me a couple of days to research his website to see if he was legit. And then, I was very embarrassed that I had taken so long to respond to an artist the calibre of Joseph Yakovetic. Fortunately, Joe is as humble as he is talented and he never acted slighted in the least by my tardy reply.
Since that time, Joe has brought his creativity to the LMS in a variety ways–from fundraisers to enhancing theatrical touches to our concerts. Now serving as Vice President of the La Mirada Symphony Association, Joe is largely responsible for suggesting the upcoming MOVIE CLASSICS POPS concert. His association with the entertainment industry is long and varied and he is especially well-known for his artwork of two beloved films celebrating 75 years of bringing joy to the globe–Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz.
The POPS repertoire will include a variety from John Williams to James Bond to Alfred Hitchcock. Certainly, Tara’s Theme and OZ highlights will be among the audience favorites. If you see him in the lobby, be sure and thank Joseph Yakovetic for the MOVIE CLASSICS inspiration–and everything else he does for the La Mirada Symphony.
The MOVIE CLASSICS POPS Concert begins at 3pm at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Admission is free; a $5 donation per seat is suggested. No reservation required; doors open at 2:30 pm. For further information call 562-941-5779 or 714-521-0774.
